Mid-level Scientist-Hunt Valley

We have an excellent opportunity for a Mid-Level Scientist in our Hunt Valley, MD office who will be responsible primarily for supporting two worldwide fuel system programs for a federal client, specifically in the areas of Underground Storage Tank (UST) and Fuel System compliance.
What you will do:
Your duties will include, but are not limited to, task management for compliance projects of varying sizes and complexity; conducting field-based training for UST systems (UST Operator Training), fuel system leak detection testing support; regulatory review and analysis; coordination with various Government stakeholders; development of training materials; permitting; oversight of subcontractors; technical report preparation; and project accounting.
Additionally, you will support a broad range of environmental, health, and safety projects, including regulatory compliance audits and assessments, environmental compliance program development, Environmental Management System development support, development of permit applications and plans (SPCC, SWPPP, air permits, etc.), and regulatory reporting (RCRA biennial reports, EPCRA Tier II and Form R, air quality, and others). Projects include: compliance, best management practice, and rapid response testing of Aboveground Storage Tanks (ASTs), USTs and fuel pipelines; conducting engineering and leak strategy evaluations for large fuel systems; regulatory required training for UST system compliance; compliance audits for federal fueling sites; presentation of training sessions; contingency planning and; development of SWPPP and SPCC Plans, environmental compliance auditing, as well as additional fuel facility related projects.

What you will need:
  • B.S. degree in chemical/environmental/civil/mechanical engineering. EIT/PE and or M.S.
  • 3-5 years of environmental compliance, regulatory and/or engineering experience with a working knowledge and understanding of federal/state regulations as they apply to fuel storage, conveyance, and dispensing.
  • Specific knowledge of fueling systems is preferred.
  • Experience supporting or leading field efforts and overseeing subcontractors.
  • Must be able to obtain security clearance.
  • Solid communication (written and verbal) skills are required, including the ability to interface with clients in a field or industrial environment, and maintain appropriate level of communication with supervisor and project/program managers.
  • Must be able to work as a team member across technical disciplines, and must be able to adhere to schedules, scopes of work, and budgets, as well as EA’s quality standards.
  • OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training required.
  • Work includes travel throughout the United States and may include some International so obtaining a passport will be necessary.
