Horticultural Assistant (seeds)

RES is looking for a Horticultural Assistant to be based out of our Brodhead, WI offices.
The Horticultural Assistant will perform a variety of horticultural activities. This role provides leadership and supervision in the performance of plant health care, production, and inventory control activities from start to finish, with a specific focus on the care and maintenance of crops.

What your day-to-day might look like?

Your day-to-day will involve working in a greenhouse environment where you would assist with propagation and transplanting activities. This includes the cultivation of outdoor seed on production fields, and care and maintenance of containerized plants and seed production fields.
 Additionally, you will assist with the harvest of seed and plant materials and perform seed processing.
Weed control procedures, both chemical and manual, will also be a part of your daily tasks in seed production fields, containerized plants, and off-site.
Other responsibilities may include assisting with inventory counts and records maintenance, relocating stock, and preparing seed and plant orders. Finally, you may be expected to perform general housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Please note that we frequently perform our duties in adverse weather conditions. Exposure to direct sun, and thorny or poisonous plant materials is not uncommon in the field. You may also be requested to wade or participate in work conducted on open water. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds is expected.

Qualifications

We would love to talk to you if you have many of the following:
  • High School degree or equivalent
  • 1 or more years working in natural resources field operations. 
What will make you stand out?
  • A Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain a Fed Med Card.
  • Forklift License.
