The Division of Water Quality, Underground Storage Tank (UST) Leak Prevention Unit works to protect groundwater from the release of hazardous substances from underground storage tanks. The UST Leak Prevention Unit has a position for an Environmental Scientist passionate about groundwater protection that will provide consistent evaluation and guidance for local agencies implementing the UST program.  The UST Leak Prevention Unit respects a quality work/life balance. 

The position duties are generally performed remotely with approximately 20 days a year at 1001 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95814, two blocks from light rail and public transportation, and near the State Capitol, restaurants, and the Golden 1 Arena.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
