Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos)- Charlotte, NC

EMSL Analytical, Inc., one the largest environmental testing firms in the United States, is currently seeking a Full Time Laboratory Analyst specializing in Asbestos analysis for its Charlotte, NC laboratory location. EMSL Analytical Inc. is a growing commercial environmental testing laboratory. No laboratory experience is necessary, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees! Experienced Asbestos PLM analysts are welcomed to apply. Offering competitive pay.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures.
Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material.
Record data in a specified manner.
Some clerical work may be involved including login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones.
Maintain and troubleshoot equipment when needed.
Perform autoclave duties.
Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual.

Requirements:
Minimum requirement High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science: Geology, Microbiology, Biology, Environmental Science, and/or Chemistry background is a plus, but not required.
Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petro-graphic microscope training a plus.
Some laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus.
One to two years of asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM experience is a plus, but not required - will train.
Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis.
Must be able to work independently and with a team.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments.
Must have good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills.

Available Shifts:
Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
