Are you looking to join a team that helps connect Vermonters in need with services and resources to assist them with addressing environmental violations? Are you interested in helping Vermonters understand environmental rules and regulations? Do you enjoy working with committed conservation professionals on complex situations?

The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is seeking a versatile and driven candidate to join our team as an Accessible Assistance Specialist (Environmental Analyst VI) to work in our Environmental Assistance Office, a program that focuses on proactively working with the public to prevent environmental violations through effective outreach and engagement with individuals and communities.

This position will be heavily focused on working with individuals or communities who have been overburdened to help maintain compliance with Vermont's environmental rules and regulations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•   Serve as a DEC Environmental Justice Liaison and provide support for environmental justice efforts within the Department.
•   Help maintain, update, and improve the Permit Navigator tool.
•   Collaborate with DEC program staff to identify individuals or communities who may require extra assistance with addressing environmental violations because of a barrier or capacity issue.
•   Coordinate with other State Agencies, Federal Agencies, non-profit groups, and other stakeholders to connect individuals and communities with the services and resources they may need to come into compliance with environmental rules and regulations.

This position is a limited-service position, meaning that funding is approved for a term. Benefits and pay are identical to a permanent service position. The current term for the position is authorized until June 30, 2025.

Work is accomplished primarily in a standard office setting but can require travel to various meetings or site visits, for which access to reliable transportation for in-state travel may occasionally be necessary. This work is performed under the general supervision of the Environmental Assistance Office Program Manager. Considerations for teleworking are a possibility in consultation with the supervisor.
