IT 2023 Summer Internship at Asylum Research

What’s it like to be an intern at Asylum?
Oxford Instruments Asylum Research is a local manufacturer of nanotechnology instrumentation for industry and research. Specifically, we design, build and sell Atomic Force Microscopes (AFM) which are used to analyze material topography, elasticity, conductivity and other properties. ​
We are looking for an intern to join our Informaion Technology team during the Summer of 2023. This is a great opportunity to make an impact while getting an inside look at how a high-tech manufacturing company operates. Ideally, eligible candidates will have some basic skills and an interests in Web development (HTML and CSS).

This position is based at our headquarters office in Santa Barbara, CA.
About the Summer Internship Opportunity
We have one IT internship opportunity available this summer for organized and self-motivated student at either the undergraduate or graduate level with an enthusiastic interest in Information Technology.  
The typical Summer term is from June 2023 – September 2023. There is some flexibility depending on your college's academic schedule. We are hoping to have a July 1, 2023 start at the latest.
Desired Majors:
·        Computer Science
·        Web Development
·        Information Technology
 
Pay: The hourly pay rate is determined based on work and educational experience at time of offer. The anticipated base pay range for this position is $18-25 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
Schedule: Full time or part time depending on the selected candidate’s availability
 
Qualifications for all applicants:
·        Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
·        Candidates must be actively enrolled in an accredited University for the duration of the internship assignment pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree
·        Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required
 
The Internship program provides the selected student with real-life hands-on experience, coaching and mentoring, as well as networking opportunities. Candidates who already have some experience developing software will benefit from this experience greatly. Key projects will be to develop small routines /algorithms for our main software platform and updating the Asylum customer forum.
 
 
Responsibilities:
o         Design content for TVs, Room Displays, Forum
o         Help clean up all desks – mount arms \ monitors etc.
o         Help trace wiring into server room – TVs, Clocks, Room displays
o         Help label all wiring in server room
o         Help rerack network switches in server room
o         Help upgrade all PCs to be Win11 ready
o         Update the customer Forum (HTML and CSS)
o         Develop small algorithms and tests for our main software platform
