Expo Intern

About the Position

The highly acclaimed Net Impact Conference is our organization’s flagship event, bringing together 3000 students, professionals, and expert speakers in sustainability, corporate responsibility, and social innovation. An integral part of the conference is the Net Impact Expo, an all-day event that allows conference attendees to network with 100 organizations ranging from Fortune 500 companies to innovative social enterprises and nonprofits. Reporting to the Director, Conference and Events, the Expo Intern will be responsible for securing 70+ exhibitors and reaching the associated revenue target, providing an unparalleled exhibitor experience, and coordinating the event logistics for a productive attendee experience. In this role the Expo Intern will attend meetings with senior staff, and have the opportunity to gain strong project management, business development, sales and outreach, and communication skills. The Expo Intern will attend the 2017 Net Impact Conference (all expenses paid) in Atlanta, Georgia, October 26-28.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform research, developing a robust list of leads for exhibitor outreach
  • Curate and manage leads in contacts database (Salesforce.com)
  • Complete outreach to secure 70+ sustainability-minded companies and organizations to exhibit at the Net Impact Expo (reaching associated revenue target)
  • Providing top-notch experience through excellent customer service, acting the main point of contact for exhibitors both before and during the event, detail oriented on-site management
  • Coordinate logistics between Net Impact’s Events Logistics Manager, vendors, and exhibitors
  • Envision and craft a stellar Expo experience that exceeds attendee expectations
  • Contribute to other special projects aligned with interests and skills

Required Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree and 1-2 years professional experience, preferred
  • Experience building relationships with external constituents
  • Excellent verbal communication skills; confident and articulate when speaking by phone or in person
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and approach problems creatively
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-oriented, dynamic environment
  • Outstanding organizational skills and a keen attention to detail
  • Business development or direct sales experience a plus
  • Experience with contacts database (Salesforce.com or other) a plus

Hours: Full-time

Start date: Immediate

End date: November 3, 2017

Location: Oakland, CA

Compensation: $15.00 per hour (not eligible for benefits)
