Summer Research Analyst

Precision Economics' senior economists have been providing economic studies, reports, and expert witness testimonies for governments, multinational corporations, and the world's leading law firms for over 20 years. Primarily engaging in the areas of transfer pricing, intellectual property, international trade, commercial damages, and public policy, the senior economists at Precision have provided economic expertise for over 500 litigation, regulation, and public policy matters, published more than 100 articles and books, and conducted seminars for more than 250 groups.

As a summer research analyst at Precision Economics, you will work closely alongside leading economists in international taxation cases, intellectual property and commercial damages disputes, corporate valuations, and other practice areas. You might help determine whether a multinational corporation may have priced transactions with a subsidiary at arm's length, quantify the damages arising from possible intellectual property infringement, or estimate but-for shares of past and projected future profits. You will also gain exposure to disputes in various industries, such as pharmaceuticals, technology, financial services, and consumer products, in the United States, Canada, Australia, and other countries.

The responsibilities of the research analyst will include:

  • Assisting in the creation of expert reports for litigation/arbitration on behalf of clients from various industries
  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative research to support senior economists
  • Collecting, cleaning, and analyzing financial data
  • Applying economic theory and technical knowledge to the facts of a case
  • Fulfilling miscellaneous office tasks

The ideal candidate will be a Senior pursuing a degree in economics, mathematics, or business, but consideration will be given to all motivated applicants. Candidates must be proficient in Excel. Other programming knowledge (Python, Stata, R) is a plus, but not required. Candidates would be expected to relocate to the Washington, D.C. area.
