Original Entrance - Examination
Duties: Under direction, is responsible for the investigation of all claims on behalf of or against the District, supervises the work of the Investigation Section, assigns work and maintains procedures and records.
Minimum Requirements: Graduation from an accredited four year college or university majoring in business administration or public administration and four years of experience in claims adjusting or claims examining, including two years in the area of Workers’ Compensation, and one year of experience in a supervisory capacity. Substitution: Additional experience in claims adjusting or claims examining may be substituted for the required college education on a year-for-year basis.
Examination: This examination will consist of an oral test including a written exercise, weighted 100%. Candidates must achieve a passing score to have their names placed on the eligible list.
The oral test will assess candidates' knowledge, skill and ability in areas such as claims investigation and resolution; planning and organizing; problem solving; interpersonal effectiveness; and oral and written communication.

Oral Test: The tentative dates for the oral test are Friday, January 19, 2024 and Saturday, January 20, 2024 (if necessary to accommodate the number of candidates). Candidates will be informed by email of the date, time and place of the oral test.
Original Entrance - Appointments
Appointments will be made from an eligible list with three categories: A (Exceptionally Well Qualified), B (Well Qualified) and C (Qualified). Candidates in the highest category will be given first consideration for appointment. The eligible list has a duration of three years. Appointment is subject to successfully passing a physical examination, a drug test and a criminal history background investigation.
