Laboratory Technician (Asbestos) - San Leandro

EMSL Analytical, Inc., one of the largest environmental testing firms in the United States, is currently seeking a Full Time Laboratory Technician in its Asbestos department for its laboratory located in San Leandro, CA.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 
Preparation of environmental samples prior to analysis for Soil Milling, Air Sample Prep, Bulk Sample Prep, Dust, PLM, TEM, and PCM, and Gravimetric/Silica Prep- will train. 
Use and calibration of equipment including but not limited to: freezer mill, plasma asher, carbon coater, fume hood, balance, pipettes, etc.
Working with liquid nitrogen and other chemicals/reagents. 
Assist with laboratory organization, supply inventory, calibrations, and cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Must have good lab practices. 
Some clerical work may be involved including login and data entry of samples received, filing, faxing and copying may be assigned by laboratory staff or manager as needed.

Requirements:
Minimum requirement is High School diploma or equivalent.
Some college course work completed a plus.
One to two years of previous academic or commercial lab experience a plus.

Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis.
Attention to detail.
Must be able to lift and handle 50 pounds.
Must be willing and able to stand for various lengths of time.
Must be able to work independently and with a team.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments.
Must have good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills. 

Available Shifts:
Tuesday to Friday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 
Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Training shift to start will be Tuesday to Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
