The Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board has an opening for a Supervising Senior Environmental Scientist in the Compliance and Enforcement Section’s Stormwater and Cannabis Unit. The position is located at 11020 Sun Center, Suite 200, Rancho Cordova, CA, 95670, in the business park with free parking and located next to light rail stations and other public transportation.
Under the general direction of a Supervising Water Resource Control Engineer, and consistent with good customer service practices, and the goals of the State and Regional Board’s Strategic Plan, the incumbent is expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments, and solicit and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments.
Using sound scientific judgment, the incumbent will manage regulatory oversight of Stormwater and Cannabis Unit permitting and enforcement activities. The incumbent will supervise technical staff performing compliance and enforcement tasks for facilities regulated under the Statewide Construction Stormwater permit, the Statewide Caltrans Stormwater permit, and the Central Valley Board’s Cannabis general order. Review correspondence, technical memoranda, inspection reports, staff reviews of documents, proposed enforcement actions, etc. prepared by unit staff for sound technical analysis, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, conformance with Regional Board policies and priorities, and consistency.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
