Entry Level Technical Associate

Join Our Team as an Associate
Skeo Solutions, Inc. is a small consulting firm that provides innovative and collaborative solutions to our primary clients in environmental stewardship, social equity, and economic opportunity. We are seeking an Associate to join our dynamic and talented team of professionals.

The person in this position would primarily support projects for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Land and Emergency Management. They would be part of a team at Skeo that analyzes Superfund site cleanups and reuses, following EPA guidance. Ideal candidates will have a background in the natural sciences and be able to produce clear and concise written materials for public audiences. 

Elements of this work will include: 

  • Supporting the development of Five-Year Reviews and other EPA reports 
  • Evaluating the implementation and performance of a cleanup to determine whether it remains protective of human health and the environment
  • Researching and summarizing EPA site investigations and decision documents
  • Interpreting environmental monitoring data, such as groundwater contaminant concentrations 
  • Reviewing property ownership and related land use restrictions 
  • Site inspection travel (about 5-8 trips per year)
  • Writing technical memorandums, fact sheets, and other communication materials related to site cleanups, contaminants or cleanup technologies
  • Supporting site-specific strategies to achieve EPA performance measures

Skills We Are Seeking:
Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geosciences, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • Knowledge of the physical, chemical, and biological processes that control the transport, migration, and potential impacts of hazardous waste to human health and the environment
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to be highly responsive, meticulous, and capable of supporting multiple projects 
  • Aptitude for learning new subject matter 
  • Located within two hours of a major airport

Preferable Skills and Qualifications:

  • One or more years relevant employment experience or a master’s degree in a related field
  • Programmatic or field experience related to the EPA Superfund removal or remedial cleanup process
  • Experience interpreting environmental data and assessing data trends 
  • Experience developing or reviewing institutional controls such as environmental covenants or deed notices
  • Experience working as a government or private sector environmental contractor

Candidates should generally be available during our operating hours of 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern Standard Time. However, hours may vary depending on time zone and client needs.
