This position is in Region 10, Office of Regional Counsel, Land Law Branch. About Region 10: Region 10

This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.

Duties

 

At the entry level of this position, you will:

  • Perform legal research, writing, and analysis and provide legal advice and policy recommendations on all aspects of cleanup and cost recovery matters under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) at both private sites and federal facilities;
  • Build effective working relationships as a liaison working closely with Region 10 program clients, EPA Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance (OECA), EPA Office of General Counsel (OGC), U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), and U.S. Attorney’s Office to ensure that relevant and accurate information is exchanged regarding actions that may affect Regional program objectives;
  • Represent Region 10 in dealings with outside parties, including negotiating the settlement of cleanup and cost recovery matters at Superfund sites. Serve as EPA's legal counsel assisting DOJ to ensure that the Agency's views are represented in judicial proceedings.
