We are looking for someone who has familiarity of wastewater treatment engineering principles, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Waste Discharge Requirements (WDRs) permitting processes, and an understanding of hydrogeology who is interested in working with a variety of communities and sewer service providers throughout the Central Valley. The Central Valley Water Quality Control Board has an opening for a Water Resource Control Engineer in the Sacramento Office Waste Discharge to Land Permitting/Wastewater Consolidation Program. The position is located at 11020 Sun Center Drive, Rancho Cordova with convenient free parking, near light rail stations, and other public transportation.

Duties: 

The Water Resource Control Engineer is responsible for using engineering knowledge and technical expertise to evaluate alternative options to assist disadvantaged communities in identifying alternative and financially feasible options for the disposal of domestic waste discharges. Technical considerations include on-site wastewater treatment plants, construction of a community sewer collection system with a centralized wastewater treatment system, and wastewater consolidation to the nearest wastewater treatment facility.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
