Drafting Technician

Role Overview 

Responsible for generating detailed technical drawings and plans, and translating conceptual ideas from architects, engineers, and designers into precise visual representations. This role may encompass involvement in multiple projects concurrently. 
 

Duties and responsibilities

Drafting Technical Drawings 

  • Utilize CAD software and drafting tools to create:
    • Floor plan
    • Elevations
    • Sections
    • Details
    • Other necessary construction documents for projects.
       

Interpreting Design Concepts

  • Translate conceptual sketches into precise drawings suitable for construction.


Detailing and Annotations 

  • Add specific details and annotations to the drawings.
    • Dimensions
    • Notes
    • Symbols
    • Specifications
       

Collaboration with the Design Team

  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and other team members to ensure drawings accurately represent design intent and meet project requirements.

 

Revision and Modifications

  • Update and revise drawings to reflect changes accurately.
     

Quality Control

  • Meticulously review work to identify errors or inconsistencies and implement necessary corrections for accuracy.
     

Compliance with Codes and Standards

  •  Ensure adherence to building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
     

File Management

  • Establish and maintain systematic file management for project-related drawings and documentation.
     

Client Relations

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
    • Regular Communication 
    • Provide updates on project progress 
    • Address concerns and queries 
       

Assistance during CA

  • Provide support during the construction phase:
    • Generate additional construction details
    • Respond to inquiries related to drawings
       

Other Duties 

  • Performs other duties as assigned as required by the business 
     

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Proficient with computer-aided design (CAD) such as Vectorworks
  • Familiar with all relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards for projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in architecture 
  • At least one year of related experience
