Overview:
Pulmonx is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Business Analyst Intern. Pulmonx, maker of the Zephyr® Valve, is a commercial medical device company helping physicians treat patients with severe emphysema, a debilitating form of COPD. This internship offers a unique opportunity to help Pulmonx determine our expansion strategy based on the geographic intersection of our growth accounts and where the patient population resides. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and analytical team player with a strong interest in the healthcare industry. This internship is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain practical experience analyzing, sizing, determining, and projecting market opportunities within a dynamic and innovative healthcare environment. As an intern, you will have the chance to contribute to meaningful projects while learning from experienced professionals in the field.
Key Responsibilities:

Market Sizing and Development:
- Understand and map the universe of patients in the United States with severe emphysema (size the market)
- Analyze current account performance at each of our account tiers in each region, identifying areas of opportunity and strengths
- Determine focus markets for expansion based on business readiness, business impact, and patient need
- Model the revenue impact at various levels of expansion based on the analysis

Marketing Analytics:
- Identify what market conditions/characteristics lead to stronger market performance
- Identify what advertising channels correlate with stronger treatment rates
- Identify gaps in our data collection to help prepare us for future growth

Communication and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and agency partners to enable data collection necessary for analysis.

Learning and Development:
- Actively engage in learning opportunities to expand knowledge of medical device category and industry regulations.
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in a relevant field (e.g., Biomedical Engineering, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Statistics/Data Science).
- Great analytical, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – ability to effectively communicate complex ideas
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and other tools such as SQL and BigQuery a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Basic understanding of medical device development and regulatory processes is a plus.
