Research Data Analyst II

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is currently hiring for a Research Data Analyst (RDA) II within our Communicable Disease Emergency Response (CDER) Program. In this role, you will serve as a Reporting Analyst A.

CDER supports and increases the reach and effectiveness of the Division of Communicable Disease Control's preparation for and response to infectious disease emergencies and infectious disease aspects of other disasters (e.g., fires, floods, earthquakes, etc.). CDER also prepares for and assumes a leadership role in bioterrorism and other communicable disease emergencies with plans, guidelines, exercises, and interventions, including community mitigation and infection prevention.

We are looking for someone that has extensive knowledge of, or experience with, quantitative and qualitative data analysis and research methodologies, and healthcare data flow and clinical terminology, including laboratory testing processes.

Position overview:

  • The selected candidate will execute data quality protocols; compile timely and complete reports; and support data modifications to correct errors.
  • The selected candidate will also perform duties related to the support of surveillance and health informatics capacity to develop and improve electronic data exchange, and serve as a liaison between the healthcare facilities, electronic health record (EHR) system vendors, and state and local public health to facilitate the troubleshooting of data content and message structure.
  • This vacancy is being advertised in Butte, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Shasta, Sonoma, and Ventura Counties.  The location of the position will be determined based on the location of the most qualified candidate.
