Engineering Director

RES is looking for an Engineering director, sitting in any large RES office (list provided below).

The mission: In this newly created position, the Engineering Director will coordinate the company's design and engineering resources, and will be responsible for technical sales support, prioritizing design work, sourcing professional design services, and recruiting and training the design workforce. Reporting to the VP, Central, you will be working across multiple business lines, and collaborating closely with sales managers, the executive team, regional general managers, project managers, human resources, and department managers.

What your day-to-day might look like?

You will be focusing on the following:

Team Leadership and Management: Lead regional engineering managers and staff, manage subcontractors and teaming partners, and collaborate with corporate and regional teams across various departments.

Recruiting and Training: Implement recruiting and integration efforts to support strategic growth, including driving career development programs for the design and engineering workforce.

Resource Coordination and Process Improvement: Develop and administer processes to improve the management of design and engineering resources, both internal and external, company-wide.

Technical Sales Support: Manage the resource allocation system to support the company’s sales efforts with design and engineering resources, ensuring alignment with broader business goals.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a subject matter expert and manage significant client accounts, facilitating meetings and discussions with Federal, State, and Local agencies to ensure project approval and compliance.

Licensure and Technology Management: Administer companywide design and engineering licensure and technology programs to ensure compliance and efficiency.

Qualifications

We would like to talk to you if you have many of the following:

• BA / BS
• Recognized subject matter expert in areas such as stream and wetland design and stormwater management design.
• Demonstrated ability to manage technical staff and coach mid-level managers
• Experience in technical sales, including conceptual engineering and estimating, with a demonstrated ability to produce repeat sole-source requests from clients.
• Capable of performing account management for significant clients and managing feasibility and concept development for stream and wetland restoration plans or stormwater management plans.
• Proven experience in managing multiple deals simultaneously and making strategic Go/No Go decisions.
• Strong analytical skills in assessing financial projections and proposed deal terms.
• Expertise in AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, Microstation, and other hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software.
• Ability to develop hydrologic and hydraulic models and interpret results.
