The mission of the KY Department of Revenue is to consistently and efficiently administer tax laws and programs to fund public services while providing quality customer service to the taxpayers and tax professionals living and working in Kentucky.
As Resource Management Analyst III for the Sales and Use Tax Division, your verification of sales tax data for Tax Increment Financing (TIF) and other sales tax related projects will be instrumental. You will assist management and Division staff by analyzing sales tax compliance efforts to identify additional compliance opportunities. You will also participate in testing of new filing and other sales tax systems.
Keys to success in this position include being knowledgeable of tax laws, as well as the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to managers, staff and the public. In addition, being meticulous, thorough, and ethical are important qualities to ensure successful completion of complex tax projects. The ability to work independently to provide guidance and instruction on a timely basis is essential for this position.
Additionally, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting with training new employees on new systems and how to operate and record compliance data.
- Analyzing the budgetary impact of legislative proposals.
- Staying current on tax statutes, regulations, state policies and procedures.
Additional / Supplemental information:
- Required to successfully complete a background investigation including an FBI criminal history record check (fingerprint check).
- Required to comply with all tax laws.
- Mostly at a desk using a computer and telephone.
- Some travel for training and education.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of systems analysis, business administration, or public administration experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Related technical or vocational training will substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. A master's degree in computer science, business or public administration will substitute for one year of the experience requirement.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in computer programming, systems analysis, information services, research and statistics, business administration, or public administration will substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Probationary Period
