Job Description And Duties

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) is recruiting for a Permanent Full-time Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) position within the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD). This position is to be located in one of DFPI’s California office locations: Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or San Diego. The recruitment may also be used to fill subsequent vacancies in this position within the next 180 days.

Under the general direction and guidance of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Information Technology Specialist I will serve as a Database Administrator within ITSD's Enterprise Architecture Unit (EAU). The ITS I will have multi-faceted responsibilities, including the management and support of DFPI's Microsoft SQL server, SharePoint, and ServiceNow database systems. Additionally, the ITS I will manage and support data analytical reporting dashboard and data visualization tools such as Power BI.

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework option within California based on departmental guidelines and operational need. DFPI has a minimum in-office requirement of two days per week for all positions including those that are eligible for telework.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years as an Information Technology Associate; or

Four years of general information technology experience performing technical and/or analytical tasks for computer systems or services in any of the six domains or emerging information technology fields; or

120 semester units (or 180 quarter units) from an accredited college or university including at least 15 semester units (or 22.5 quarter units) of information technology or closely related course work; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and education.

When using education to meet minimum qualifications, education must include the specified information technology or closely related course work. Closely related course work refers to a course of study involving the study of computing, such as software engineering, computer engineering, Management Information Systems, Geographic Information System, and computing technology.
