Pre-med Internship in Dermatology (paid)

We are launching a brand new dermatology practice in southern Marin in the fall of 2017! This is an exciting opportunity to learn about starting a beautiful medical practice, dedicated to positive patient experiences. Great fit for a premed student with 1-2 gap years who wants hands-on experience with patients in the medical field.



The physician: I am a vibrant and engaging female board-certified dermatologist who loves to mentor and teach. I would like to partner with my medical assistant, brainstorm together, create exciting new business ideas, and execute them efficiently. I am warm and approachable, offering constructive feedback regularly in a supportive manner. My educational background includes Harvard, MIT, Johns Hopkins, and UC Davis. My prior premed interns have gone on to medical school at Columbia, UCSD, U. Arizona, Torro, and Hershey.



Responsibilities: rooming patients, taking a medical history, listening closely and scribing detailed notes rapidly, writing prescriptions, setting up for and assisting in biopsies and surgeries, bandage changes, recording pathology in log books, calling patients with results, answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, updating patient forms, creating educational handouts, and other administrative duties.



Qualifications: We will provide you with detailed dermatology notes to educate yourself for the fast-paced role of scribing. No prior training or medical experience necessary for self-motivated candidates.



Schedule is part-time: (22-24 hours/week)
• Tuesdays and Wednesdays: full time at the office from about 9am-7:30pm (~10 hour days)
• Mondays and Thursdays: 1-2 hours of work from home (two 1-2 hour days)



Compensation: $20-25/hour, depending on experience



Location: Gorgeous new office with sunny, expansive water views! In Mill Valley, adjacent to freeway, 8-10 minute drive from SF.
