Accenture

Summer Consulting Analyst

June - August 2020 • Cincinnati, OH

What I liked

I felt welcomed and valued from the day I started. I felt supported by my project team and found it easy to make genuine connections, despite being in a virtual environment. I developed a great rapport with my manager, and she connected me with other Accenture employees to talk about my interests and experiences. I also loved all of the programming planned by the Summer Analyst Team, including the Student Leadership Conference and the Buddy Program!

Technology Summer Analyst

June - August 2019 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

I liked that I was not just treated as an intern (getting coffee, filing, etc.). I was treated as a full-time Analyst and was given large amounts of responsibility. I also really enjoyed getting to network with other interns and employees and expand my network and knowledge about the industry I hope to join.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to start earlier! Accenture only offers two large on-boarding times (one for semester students and one for quarter students), and the one for quarter students started at the end of June. I wish I could have started right after finishing finals.

Advice

Ask questions and don't be afraid to take initiative. People are always going to be busy but if you make your presence known they will treat you with more respect and maybe even give you a cool new project to work on!

Consulting Summer Analyst

June - August 2019 • Florham Park, NJ

What I liked

I appreciated the opportunity to improve my skill sets in technical, business, and leadership contexts. Every employee I met from analyst to senior leadership was extremely willing to help me advance my career.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have worked at Accenture for 12 weeks instead of 10, however I am very excited to return again next fall.

Advice

Applicants need to be professional, sharp, and willing to adapt to any situation. The project environment can be extremely variable, and therefore it is important to be both intellectually curious an agile.

Consulting Summer Analyst

June - August 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Ownership. I had the opportunity to own my role, my work, and my Accenture relationships. Over the course of the summer, I was asked to run a client meeting, manage a living dashboard for client leadership, and share during a team-wide presentation. My managers relied on me the way they would a full-time analyst. The People. Without sacrificing an ounce of professionalism, Accenture’s culture is as welcoming as it gets. From my own teammates to managing directors I met for the first time, everyone is equally warm and candid. The Content. I joined one of Accenture’s Life Sciences accounts and learned about digital system readiness, supply chains, and the world of pharma. Each day, my work was current and stimulating.

What I wish was different

Because my role was grounded primarily in project management, I did not have as many opportunities to develop my skills in data analysis and visualization. That said, many summer analysts that I met had abundant opportunities to grow in this area. At the end of the day, your summer experience is highly dependent on the type of project work needed.

Advice

Take advantage of the incredible mentorship opportunities available to you. Don’t hesitate to grab time on senior-level employees’ calendars. They are genuinely eager to meet new faces, offer advice, and share their own experiences!

CDTS Summer Analyst

June - August 2019 • Irving, TX

What I liked

I loved the full-time people I had the chance to work with, the amount of responsibility given, and the culture of Accenture. It's a culture of work hard play hard, and keeping employees for the long run instead of having a high turnover rate.

What I wish was different

I wish I knew how much video conferencing and Excel was involved in the job, and that the majority of the office only comes in two times a week so it's mainly just a few people and the interns the rest of the time

Advice

Don't hesitate to ask questions early on, especially if you don't understand something on the computer! Also, get to know the people in the office beyond those you work with.

Management Consulting Intern

June - August 2020 • Washington, DC

What I liked

Though my experience was virtual, Accenture ensured that we still had a fulfilling experience. I got to work on a real project team and had the freedom to take my role in the project where I wanted it to go. On top of all of this, the culture at Accenture is unmatched. Everyone I met was happy to get to know me and was excited about my journey.

What I wish was different

I wish I had the opportunity to work in the office as well as work on a project that better aligned with my specific interests. However, I met incredible people and further solidified the role I wish to have in the future.

Advice

Be authentic. Share your goals, your strengths, and where you want to improve. Internships are designed to help us better prepare for the working world, so be unafraid to take risks and learn!

What I liked

I had a great team and was given a lot of autonomy when it came to my work!

What I wish was different

The internship was virtual, so it was difficult to connect with other interns and employees. My case content was not something I was particularly interested in either.

Advice

Make more time to meet with more people! Reach out because employees want to meet you!

Technology Summer Analyst

June - August 2019 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

It's a very fun and exciting internship. You meet a lot of people from the Accenture company through networking events on Friday where everyone comes into the main office. Also, I got to work with some pretty cool technologies. You also get a chance to meet all the interns from across the country for a conference for one weekend. Overall, it's fast-paced and you meet a lot of people.

What I wish was different

I wish you knew what project you were assigned to earlier. You find out what project and what client you're on very late. You don't really have a voice in the type of stuff you want to learn, so whatever project you're assigned to you usually just go through with it unless you voice that you really don't want to do it.

Advice

Don't be shy. Everyone at the company is very fun and has a great story to tell. Listen, meet new people, step outside your comfort zone, and make good connections. Don't be afraid to do the same with your client company as well. Make the most of your time at Accenture.

Summer Security Consulting Analyst

June - August 2018 • Boston, MA

What I liked

- Interns are given real and applicable work that is challenging but also interesting - Everyone there, employees and interns alike, are super friendly and always willing to help out - There are great networking opportunities to meet managing directors, employees, and interns from all over the US

What I wish was different

- The learning curve is pretty massive. You spend the first two weeks of your internship just learning things - You are expected to put in long hours, even if you aren't being paid overtime, to get the work done

Advice

Take initiative to learn new things and take on new responsibility! No one is going to be there to hold your hand and give you a bunch of directions. Try new things and take risks. Going above and beyond will set you apart from other interns.

Strategy Summer Analyst

June - August 2017 • Houston, TX

What I liked

I liked how we were put on a real project and were actually given responsibility. I got to sit in on client meetings and contribute ideas and work with the leadership.

What I wish was different

I think that my work-life balance over the summer was lacking, but I also think that my project was a good reflection of the job as a whole.

Advice

You will likely travel during your summer internship and experience what it is like to be an actual consultant, so keep thinking about whether consulting is something that you want to do after graduation, based off of your summer experience.

Marketing & Communication Summer Analyst

June - August 2017 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The people I worked with were very intelligent, friendly, and all loved the company for what it represents. The internship experience allowed me to meet students from other universities who were passionate about Accenture as well!

What I wish was different

I wish there were more intern bonding activities - there was a very large group in NYC but it was quite fragmented due to the multiple divisions and the consulting analysts being out of the office most days of the week.

Advice

Never be afraid to ask questions and want to explore outside of the division or industry you are assigned. At Accenture, they encourage such curiosity and see an intern as a member of the company as a whole, rather than as aligned to a specific part of the company.
