Marketing Co-op

August 2023 • Florence, KY

What I liked

Hand-on experiences & a lot (I mean a lot) of opportunities to switch positions within company to find the right position for you.

What I wish was different

Although it called Marketing Co-op, there is only a few/little projects to work in Marketing. Also, you do not have the chance to create your own project or anything like that so keep that in mind. Also, I wish there were more days that I can work remotely.

Advice

Be self-motivated and ask a lot of questions. It could be overwhelming at first, but when you get the hang of it everything is good!

Corporate Communications Intern

June - August 2023 • Indianapolis, IN

What I liked

I loved my team at Cummins. I had an amazing manager and everyone I worked with was so willing to hop on networking calls. I also got to directly help with the internal communication needs of company leadership including the current CEO and CFO.

What I wish was different

I wish I had not been fully remote all summer. The remote role made it harder to connect with my team, even though they did a great job of helping me and other remote employees feel included!

Advice

The best thing I noticed about Cummins after working there for a few months, was how it truly prioritizes employee development. There was not a lot of recent turnover in the Communications department, or even the departments that we worked closely with. Employees seemed like they were happy and felt valued.

Supply Chain Engineering Intern

June - August 2019 • Columbus, IN

What I liked

I liked everything about the internship. People were always willing to help with every question I had. They treat interns as professionals and that makes the work environment better. I got to connect with many professionals and interns during my time and was able to develop professionally. It was an amazing experience and I can’t wait for next summer to return to Cummins.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time to meet with different departments regarding my return offer. I met with different teams but with more time I would have had a better idea on what other things Cummins does.

Advice

I would tell people to work hard, have a very positive attitude and a lot of willingness to learn and work. People know when you wan to learn, and they appreciate the effort you make while working. Even when things get challenging, find your ways through it by asking and listening very carefully.

Product Validation Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • Seymour, IN

What I liked

The culture of the company is great. My manager was very helpful in introducing me to the specifics of my role. My team members were nice and I was actually given work that added value to the company; work that - if I were not there - would been given to a full time engineer.

What I wish was different

The location is a bit boring, not much to do. It’s more like a small town than a city. There’s a nice community of employees that live in the area though. Also, we were not given a housing stipend and housing is a bit difficult to find in the area but HR can be really helpful and understanding.

Advice

Come prepared to learn because you will be given actual work. Brush up on you technical skills as well.
