Great Exposure to the business, payment and financial industry. Great experience listening to some of the Tech Leadership (SVP's, CTO's/COO's) talk about their experiences going from a younger professional to where they are right now. The rest really depends on your manager since it's highly dependent on your department + team.
What I wish was different
I wish there was more structure from the people leading the program, more check-in's with individual intern managers etc to ensure timely project assignment etc.
Advice
Learn about both the business and the tech, and don't forget to network. Just doing one or the other won't help you, the financial space is really big and Fiserv is very horizontally invested so it's a great place to move around and learn in.

Tech Intern
June - August 2021 • Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ
What I liked
I learned an immense amount about the industry I am looking to go into. My mentors were welcoming, instructive, and encouraging throughout the entirety of the internship. I felt inspired to work hard because I was surrounded by intelligent individuals who were tacitly passionate about their field. I was encouraged to join employee resource groups to feel included in the community and to meet other interns. The company employees went above and beyond to make their experience the best it could be while being virtual.
What I wish was different
I know this was out of everyone's control but I wish the internship could have been in person to be able to speak face-to-face with my mentors and other interns. However, a virtual internship made me appreciate collaborative work environments and taught me new skills about efficiently working online.
Advice
One thing I noticed was that my mentor did not invite me to certain meetings due to fear of me becoming bored with the information being discussed. However, as an intern and a student, I am eager to observe any and all types of meetings to get a true feel for the corporate environment and day-to-day life. That being said, keep doing what you are doing because it was an amazing experience for me.

Sales Enablement Intern
June - August 2021 • Champlin, MN
What I liked
I enjoyed all of the opportunities that being a part of a large internship program gave me. With over 200 interns, HR had put together so many great events that helped us understand corporate environment and the payments industry. I felt like I was making a difference, and that I was of benefit to the company. Fiserv also did a wonderful job in immersing me in the company in a remote environment.
What I wish was different
I really have no complaint- although I wish I could have met my team in person, since this position was remote.
Advice
Connect with everyone you have the chance to work with, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Make the absolute most out of your experience.

Business Analyst Intern
June - December 2019 • Frisco, TX
What I liked
I liked the intern program structure and I liked the people. There were a lot of resources provided to interns and many opportunities to explore what you want to do.
What I wish was different
The work wasn’t exactly what I was expecting for a business analyst intern it was more research and technical documentation based than data analysis. It was different than what I had learned in class.
Advice
Be a sponge and take initiative. Don’t wait for other people to give you work or opportunities. Take it on your own.

Product Management Intern
June - August 2018 • Omaha, NE
What I liked
First Data is a great company. I learned so much more in this environment than I could have else where. My manager allowed me to push myself out of my comfort zone. My first summer with the company was more educational, as the second summer was much more hands on and several more projects. Overall, it was a great experience.
What I wish was different
Advice
I would recommend to anyone to push yourself out of your comfort zone. Going into my first summer at FD, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my degree and I was very nervous. Your manager will give you an opportunity to show your true potential.

Software Engineer Intern
June - August 2018 • Atlanta, GA
What I liked
I worked on a very front-end, HCI project which was right up my alley. I made an Alexa skill and there’s a ton of documentation for that which made it easy to learn from scratch. I learned a lot about designing software for users. My boss and co-workers were very fun.
What I wish was different
There were too many people on my team, so sometimes some people didn’t have enough work. I made sure to give myself something to do, though.
Advice
I got this job fairly late in the game (Spring Quarter) by reaching out to my personal network. Use your personal connections because the tech recruiting process can be daunting and disheartening.
