Single Family Intern

June - August 2020 • McLean, VA

What I liked

I really enjoyed the company culture which emphasizes its employees. I also appreciated the extensive learning opportunities and how willing everyone was to help me learn more about the industry and their roles. There are so many opportunities to pivot and explore different career paths within the organizaiton.

What I wish was different

My internship was unexpectedly moved to virtual due to COVID-19, making networking and shadowing significantly more difficult, but considering the last minute changes they had to make, I was very impressed with how they adapted the program.

Advice

I would advise that you speak with as many people as possible to learn about their job. I also recommend taking a lot of the courses and trainings offered by the Mortgage Bankers Association to get a better understanding of the industry. As long as you are curious and act like a sponge, you can gain so much from an internship at Freddie Mac.
