Technical Intern

June - August 2020 • South Plainfield, NJ

What I liked

PSEG really wants their interns to have a good experience and to come back so that they eventually progress to be a great fit for an actual job at PSEG. Every manager that I spoke with was always interested in how I was doing and what I was working on. Their genuine want to help was grealty appreaciated to me and why I liked PSEG so much.

What I wish was different

I wish that the internship was in person but the company couldn't allow the interns to be in person as the pandemic had a great effect. Even normal employees were asked to work from home so it would be hard to for them to have implemented it. I hope for an in-person internship next summer so I can get a better feel of the actual work environment and be able to learn with other interns.

Advice

I would advise anyone looking for an internship is to try to learn more about each company to find out what the intern experience itself will be like. When I got the offer from PSEG, I was excited since it was a great starting opportunity to me, but was skeptical about what the virtual internship would be like. In the end, I realized how much PSEG cares about their employees and I felt like it was a great overall learning experience.

Nuclear Fuels Intern

June - August 2020 • Salem, NJ

What I liked

I loved my experience with PSEG. I was given the opportunity to work alongside Nuclear Fuels Engineering personnel. I assisted them with their code, reactor calculations and documentation.

What I wish was different

Due to COVID, the internship was completely remote. This took away from the all important face to face interaction of the job that would normally be present. Considering this, I still feel as if I was able to make the best of it.
