Roche

Roche Academy Intern

May 2022 • Indianapolis, IN

What I liked

There were many networking opportunities, and I learned a great amount about the company, the atmosphere, and the employees.

What I wish was different

I wish there had been a couple more field engineer shadowing opportunities. I was able to go into the field twice near the end of the internship, but being able to have that experience earlier on or more frequently in the internship would have been greatly beneficial.

Advice

Keep an open mind! Even if it feels like the project or tasks you are working on aren't making a difference, they are. Everything you do is important to the company or to customers.

Inside Sales Intern

May - July 2019 • Indianapolis, IN

What I liked

Good pay and paid housing, supportive manager and meaningful projects, opportunity to be considered for full-time roles, large company with name recognition, organized intern program with extracurricular activities and committees.

What I wish was different

Not enough opportunity to network with other 80 interns, nepotism and arrogance from other interns, only 3 interns got full-time offers, apartment commute was sometimes 30 minutes.

Advice

ISU students shouldn't be intimidated about students form "big name" schools! Students from different universities are much more similar than you realize.

DSCOVERY Development intern

May - August 2018 • Tucson, AZ

What I liked

I loved that I was assigned a solid project that was of importance to the department yet was still given enough freedom to manage my time and experiments on my own. I always felt like I was playing in the lab more so than doing work.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could have stayed a little longer! Also, I wish I had also been assigned a more important projeft that had higher stakes.

Advice

Internships can be scary at first, but I wish I had done one sooner. The payoff is great and I learndd a lot. Talk to as many people as you can and make the most of the experience!
