Laboratory Intern

June - August 2021 • Madison, WI

What I liked

The research group with whom I worked was incredibly friendly. I felt like a apart of the team, I was allowed to be independent, and I learned a lot about the field from the upper-level students.

What I wish was different

Getting the new hire paperwork done and getting keys/keycard access I needed during the summer was a huge pain. They are used to hiring UW-Madison students where this isn't as much of an issue, so I was the anomaly.

Advice

Do your homework to look into the science behind what is going on in your experiences. It will help you understand your results.

What I liked

I was able to branch out in the field of limnology and learn more outside of a classroom.

Advice

Making connections and gaining these experiences so happen inside of a classroom, so I would encourage anyone to apply for a internship related to their feild.
