Law Enforcement Property and Evidence Custodian

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Law Enforcement Division is seeking a motivated Property and Evidence Custodian. This position will work closely with wildlife officers receiving, processing, storing, and safeguarding evidence. They will ensure the integrity of the evidence through the judicial process from collection to adjudication.

This position is primarily based in West Sacramento with free parking. Additionally, this position may perform field work throughout the state via state (fleet) or personal (reimbursed) vehicle.

Due to the nature of this position, you must be willing to go through a live scan background check prior to hire, and you must be able to pass all Department of Justice security clearance and training for utilization of California Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (CLETS).

For Property Controller candidates, we will also consider Temporary Authorization Utilization (TAU) appointments. TAU appointments may be made regardless of eligibility; however, applicants must still meet the minimum qualifications of the classification in order to be appointed. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications but do not currently have eligibility on an employment certification list may apply as a TAU.

TAU appointments are limited to a duration of 9 months within a 12 consecutive month period. In order to become permanent in the position, individuals must take and pass the examination for the classification and be eligible on a certification list prior to the TAU expiring. Individuals will not be required to reapply or re-compete in order to be appointed permanently to the position.
