Floral Manager

What I liked

During this internship, I got a lot of hands-on experience. I liked the dependence the company gave me through ordering supplies and flowers, designing, and decorating displays. I was able to see the consequences of over-ordering and under orders. I got to manage major floral holidays and assign workers to come to help me. Working at a fast pace I now feel more confident in my work and feel like a far better florist.

What I wish was different

Because it is a grocery store, it isn't highly known for flowers. A lot of people downgrade my flowers just because they don't expect much. I have been working on helping the store find appreciation in flowers by not covering them with other displays and seeing how much income I bring in to the store through flowers.

Advice

I would say to be confident in yourself. Everyone works a little differently and has there own style and that is okay. That is what makes your flowers unique. And if you don't know your style it will come the more that you produce.

Income tax Intern

I enjoyed everyone in the Income Tax department. I was able to work on a variety of assignments that were all applicable to my career goals. Albertsons was a great company to work for.

What I wish was different

During this internship, we had opportunity to network with other interns in the program who worked in other departments. I wish there would have been more opportunities to engage with the other interns and learn about what projects they were working on.

Advice

Be curious and ask about projects you are interested in so that you can get the most out of your internship.

What I liked

Albertsons is a fantastic company to work for. Their corporate office has such a diverse environment. The amount of different networking and development opportunities I was exposed to was invaluable.

What I wish was different

I wish that I would have had the opportunity to spend a few days shadowing other departments. There’s a lot of great things going on in Financial Reporting and Financial Planning & Analysis that I would’ve liked to see.

Advice

Show up everyday with a desire to learn more and be better at what you do. When you show ambition and drive, it will be rewarded. Also, challenge yourself to create networking opportunities and build your network. Many people within the company are more than happy to sit down with you and discuss your goals and connect you with the right personnel.

I wish I was busier/given more work! But most internships have a lot of down time.

Strategic Sourcing Intern

The internship program, the other interns, the Sourcing Department, location, and culture (in some ways).

What I wish was different

Possibly higher pay, though the pay certainly wasn't bad. I enjoyed the overall culture but it wasn't perfect.

Advice

Sourcing is great experience even though most people haven't heard about it. So if you might be interested in business strategy or product management, give sourcing a try as well!
