Product Development and Regulatory Affairs Intern

What I liked

Gained lots of hands on experience, in addition to attending many workshop put on by HR. There was great union between the students that were all working in different departments, and other fun intern events like going to the A's game!

What I wish was different

I wish that there was a more developed exit period; my exit felt very abrupt (partially because I had travel plans right afterwards), so I would have appreciated more assistance with transitioning out of the internship.

Advice

Network with as many colleagues in the office as possible, and get to know them and their journey of how they found their place in the food industry! I spoke to many, and they all came from different backgrounds in their pursuit to be in regulatory or food product development.

What I liked

People are super cool at Albertsons. Training is well. And I've actually moved out of the Starbucks into a different department (Produce). And I am learning so much!

What I wish was different

I wish that systems were updated. Such as, I created an order form on Excel for the bulk foods area. Before that it was hand written notes in a composition notebook texted to the vendor. Now, that there is an Excel sheet on a computer I can just email the vendor and not waste paper or lose the order form because it is all in one place.

Advice

Always ask questions! No matter what. If you want to learn something or are curious about something, just ask! Managers and other employees are not intimidating to ask a question to.

What I liked

My coworkers are great to work with. My management team is very friendly and are always willing to work with you. Hours are good and they are very flexible with your work schedule. The atmosphere of the store is always very upbeat and positive. Overall it's a great place to work.

What I wish was different

One thing that I wish was different was that I could have a consistent schedule. My hours are all over the place and I never know what times I'm going to be working. Another thing that I wish was different was how far in advance we got our schedule. We always get our schedule only a few days before the next week. At the earliest it could be Thursday but at the latest it could be Saturday evening which sucks because you don't know what you work the next day on Sunday until late Saturday.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would share about my experience is that you have to know how to work with a team and always be willing to learn new things.
