Kroger Co.

Store Management Intern

June - August 2018 • Novi, MI

What I liked

Kroger gave us a unique experience in that we were able to see the grocery retail industry from all viewpoints. As an intern, I had the opportunity to see a variety of different jobs available at Kroger, both inside and outside of the store. Additionally, the internship gave me the ability to improve my managerial and communication skills.

What I wish was different

I think it would have been beneficial to spend some time with the Division's Executive Team, and learn how they expect a store to be set up, or how they spend their days.

Advice

It's important to be flexible and be able to adapt. In retail, there's no telling what can happen on any given day, and employees will remember how you responded and the actions you took to resolve any issues or problems around the store.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share would be to always maintain positive attitude, or at least try to, because your energy does rub off on other people.

Certified Pharmacy Technician

August 2015 • Houston, TX

What I liked

The quick pace, learning about the medications, customer interactions

What I wish was different

Having a bit more help in terms of staffing ratio.

Advice

Spend a lot of time learning the top 100 drugs. The staff will have no problem explaining the hands on skills such as typing up prescriptions and explaining insurance issues with patients, but they will not take the time to teach you basic drugs or drug classes.
